Adfinitas Health acquires Advanced Inpatient Medicine
Adfinitas Health currently partners with 14 hospitals and more than 40 post-acute facilities in Maryland, Virginia and Michigan.
Adfinitas Health, a large, private hospitalist group in the Mid-Atlantic region, has acquired a majority interest in Advanced Inpatient Medicine.
Based in northeastern Pennsylvania, AIM serves four hospitals and several long-term acute care and skilled nursing facilities.
The company and its nearly 40 employees will become part of Adfinitas Health, which currently partners with 14 hospitals and more than 40 post-acute facilities in Maryland, Virginia and Michigan. Financial terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.
The Adfinitas and AIM's business model are similar. The acquisition is a good fit because of AIM's providers' focus on patient-centered care, according to Eric Nass, president of Adfinitas Health.
AIM was founded in 2006 by Louis O'Boyle, MD. Similar to Adfinitas Health, O'Boyle has focused his practice on the two key objectives of high-quality, cost-effective patient care, and the integration of nurse practitioners and physician assistants -- commonly referred to as Advanced Practice Providers, or APPs -- into care teams. The APPs practice at the top of their licenses under the supervision of a physician.
Using this model of a clinically integrated staff, O'Boyle and his team improved key quality metrics and driven cost saving. This model is also used by Adfinitas.
